Awhile Without Writing…
Monday, February 23rd, 2009..still here.I gave SohoKind a big push in the fall. Coming back from our summer holiday with renewed energy. Our Facebook page was launched, we did another round of PR, which landed us a feature in my alumni magazine at HEC, and we had a Christmas sale including free-shipping wordlwide. I’ve even decided to keep the shipping free. And I was hoping for our t-shirt sales to really take off.Well, starting a business with a budget of $0 is pretty tough. To be honest, sales have been minimal. That is the main reason why I put the blog on quasi-auto pilot with the street art photos from Berlin and New York.Cool pics though in my opinion. They are all photos taken over the past many months, walking around New York with my son and in Berlin, where we’ve spent some family time the past two summers.Back to the t-shirt sales. Yes, this is tough. So I have scaled back the blogging and activities, while I’ve focused more on other work and just taking care of my son. Here are some interesting stats on SohoKind.com and how we’ve been doing :Most Popular Day - 878 visits on 10 March 2008 192 Visits in the past monthThe vast majority of the visits to the site come from the US. Though this past month the following countries had the most cisitors to the site : Japan, Mexico, the UK and Italy. In terms of sales, they have been slower than hoped for. But our top selling countries are Japan and France, with orders also going to the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, India, Canada and the US. As for the day-to-day with my son. Well, now that he’s walking, it revolves around playgrounds (and still cafes). We basically choose the neighborhood for the day, spend the first part of the afternoon at the playground and then drop into one of the cafes I’ve been blogging about. In general, my son’s patience has been increasing. Or, better said, the strategy of going to the playground first has worked pretty well, as we are usually able to stay at least half an hour at a cafe because he’s tired by that point. For the cafes, we’ve been sticking to our favorites. But there are a couple to add that I will be blogging about in the coming days.
